6:30 am After waking up and chasing the dogs into the yard to potty (the normal procedure – they’ve gotten lazy), I make some Super Yogurt for breakfast. I use plain Greek yogurt, fresh fruit, flax seeds, almonds, and walnuts. And a drizzle of honey.
Did you know the cheap Greek “Style” Yogurt has corn starch and other additives to thicken it? Read the labels carefully.
Today I’m working from the dining table again. I have a working breakfast. So much work to do.
All morning this guy supervises my work. . . with his large body on a tiny corner of a tiny catnip purr pad from Janery. Silly Merlin, that’s a cat bed!
Our yard is really dry and browning, despite our heavy-duty grass planting efforts the last few years. So I try watering it.
I notice the butterflies are loving my dahlia bushes out front.
I water my 10-foot planter boxes. They are flourishing!
Working lunch: Leftover okra and zucchini topped with my Cabernet Chicken, also left over. Iced green tea with rose and hibiscus. So refreshing. Laundry needs doing. This shirt and skirt both had oil stains, so I pre-treat with Dawn Dish Detergent. It really works.
I fold clean kitchen laundry while on a conference call. Because we use cloth towels and napkins instead of paper, we have a little more kitchen laundry than most people. 3 pm I decide I need to make healthy cookies. But I have no regular flour, so I just use spelt flour instead. I also use half as much sugar as called for, and grab random jars of stuff to mix in: chocolate chips, oatmeal, flax seeds, and walnuts.
I dump everything in my KitchenAid mixer for a minute and voila – they’re mixed up. The dough is so tasty.
The cooked dough is not as tasty. It’s very . . healthy tasting. That’s good, though, because it means I just take a little nibble and my cookie craving is done.
Did I mention this guy sits in my lap all day long as I work?
4 pm a torrential rain storm hits us. Oh, so glad I watered the plants and the grass. . . .
At 5:45 I finish a work call and look outside to see a rainbow. 🙂
I notice that my desk needs cleaning. Yuck. I postpone it til “tomorrow” and head downstairs to my studio to sew, sew, sew.
I look at the calendar and realize – yikes! I only have 2.25 weeks of sewing days left until the art show. I start to panic. 8 pm I realize I should feed Ryan and myself. Dinner: Lentil Fajita Bowls. Recipe coming soon to a friend’s blog. 9 pm I head back downstairs to sew. I attempt to create a dozen pillows before bed. The machine and I fight (I’m still learning to use the special feet that came with it) so there is a lot of seam-ripping going on. I sew until 11 pm but then decide I’m tired and cranky and I go to bed.
Some days are like that – even in Australia.

Love this one – can totally relate to this day! 🙂
(Wait until I finally post my Thursday – I did yardwork and laundry, too.)
“This guy” who sits in your lap all day is an extreme cutie! I can imagine that being surrounded by animals and being very busy (your days make me feel tired just looking at them!) you don’t have a chance to feel lonely.
