Tree Decor & More!

Happy Wednesday!  I’m back to share a few more fun DIY ideas I picked up at the Mid-Atlantic Green Wedding Showcase.

How precious is this memory tree?  Wouldn’t it be fun to incorporate this earthy element into your home while using it display photos or birthday cards?

DIY inspiration

Here’s how I’d do it:  Just snip an interesting branch on a shrub (maybe an azalea?) before it blooms, and secure it in a vase filled with small river rocks.  For a more even, and modern color, spray-paint it a rich chocolate brown.  If I couldn’t find a single branch with this many small branches coming off it, I’d simply gather 2 or 3 together, wrapping their bases together with florist tape.

And now for something a bit more complicated, yet still within reach:

This 5-tiered cupcake serving table can be rented for all occasions . . . but why rent when it’s so easy to DIY it?

This reuse of an old table really “takes the cake.”  Pun intended.  Wooden tiers are attached to the base of the table with a large wooden post.  Any handy woman *or man* could hack this look with just a few tools.  Maybe make it square and cut the pieces out of plywood, then sandwich between sections of square fencepost and attach to a shabby chic thrifted table.  Ok, maybe it would be a bit more work than your average project, but still – wouldn’t it be fun to serve appetizers or desserts from a cute tower at your next cocktail party?

As you can see here in the detail shot, the entire tower was decorated with ribbon and tassels.  Hello, glue gun!
