Good morning! Ryan and I had a fantastic weekend, chock-full of holiday cheer and celebration, but I still managed to squeeze in a lot of sewing for Janery, of course! It’s a busy time of year where my to-do list is overflowing with wholesale and regular orders to fill, as well as special orders. I love the fast pace, but I will admit that the top item on my business to-do list in 2012 will be “create a better organization system.” 🙂
I added a few new pillows to the shop and I just love the beautiful blue color. I only wish I had a place to use them in my own home! Actually, that’s probably why I chose these fabrics. Adding them to the shop gives me an excuse to play with fabrics and colors and patterns that I otherwise would not have a reason to work with!
The back of the Vintage Blossom (branch) pillow cover is a coordinating taupe and white trellis pattern. I’m finding that I love making pillow covers with coordinating, yet different, fabrics on each side, because it just offers so many more options for how you can use the pillow in your home.
And in other Janery news, I wanted to let you all know that Janery will go on quasi-vacation starting Monday, Dec. 19, and reopening January 9th in 2012.
I really had trouble deciding whether or not to do this, but finally realized that I have no choice. I’ve loved being busy and seeing Janery grow this year – it’s so exciting! – but I really, really need a little vacation from running the shop, but one where I’m not actually on travel myself!
Hopefully that break will give me time to get some projects done, finish making Christmas gifts, and also to plan a better organization system and schedule for running a blog, shop, and working full-time in the coming year.
Also, when Janery re-opens in January, I’ll be officially releasing my first set of dog accessories: low-profile, semi-custom pup pads as seen in the background of IHeart Organizing recently! They’re great for protecting your pup’s favorite spot on the sofa, or for adding a little coziness to the spot where your pup rides in the car.
If you’re a blogger and/or shop owner, how do you keep balance? Are you planning to take a break at all over the holidays?

I’m pretty excited about these pup pads… Can I preorder FIVE? LOL. And yes, this is Ashley who also wants three kitty ones as well! Not sure why I always get one for each critter since they will all just fight over one but still!
Oh, I can’t wait to see the cute dog stuff. I love those pillow too.
Great fabric choices, as always. I think you’re smart to schedule a vacation, Jane. I’m always thinking I will work straight through and then end up burnt out curled up on the sofa in a holiday coma. Better to just admit that you need time off! All of your customers should get that, too. That’s part of why they choose to buy handmade, right?
What a cute idea! I definitely need one pup mat for the car and a couple for my house. Can’t wait to see the designs.
I am hopping on the organization train for the first of the year. Can’t wait to get some de-cluttering done. I actually just wrote about it tonight, and am hoping to get some other bloggers to join forces. Let me know if you want to share some of your organization ideas. I’d love to feature it!
