In a brief burst of inspiration, I cut up my ultra-long fabric banner into three sections, and used it to add a dose of fun to the beige wall on the back porch.
Because we rent, I didn’t want to put any nail holes or anything on that wall, so hanging “real” art was out of the question. To hang the banners, I simply used some of the Command Velcro Picture hanging strips.
I think the coordinating blues and greens work perfectly in the space, and it’s such a welcome addition, because that blank wall was really grating on my nerves.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I believe it’s 5 o’clock somewhere!

That was a BRILLIANT burst of inspiration! And, by the way, I for one would LOVE to see easy sewing tutorials on your blog. Starting with how to sew a zipper :).
1- I LOVE your banner; 2- I just love you! You crack me up Jane! Enjoy the cocktail and have a wonderful weekend! 🙂
The banners look terrific.
The banners are cute, but I am lusting after those rugs. AbFab.

So cute! Love that banner!
love that banner! I need to find energy and time to make one!
Found you through Centsational Girl!
I love that you hung it there! I’ve been trying to think of something to do on my large outdoor wall in the back…this would be perfect. I could even use outdoor fabrics to help the color from fading.
[…] In the summer I dared to show the world just how redneck our back porch had become. Parties would not be happening here. I’m wondering if we just opened the back door and threw things out back. This ugly duckling sure became a swan of a space, though. Check out the after below and the progress posts: Part 1, Part 2, and a final update. […]
The improvements are amazing! This will surely inspire others to do the same with their porches. Thank you for sharing the pictures!
The fabric banner surely adds more life to the wall. You have a very creative mind. This post will absolutely inspire others to do the same or find other ways to add twist to their homes. Thank you for sharing this post.
The porch looks cozy – it surely is nice to spend some time in this area as one reads the paper or enjoy a conversation with friends. So many outdoor activities can be done in this space when the weather is fine.
