Decorating Dilemmas, My Old Apartment

I ask, you answer? Curtain dilemma.

On this fabulous Friday, I’d love to hear your thoughts on my living room curtain dilemma.

Back when I finalized the mood board for my living room, I chose three fabrics that I will sew into coordinating pillows, dog beds, and curtains.  The thing is, I can’t order the fabric until I know how much I’ll need – and I won’t know how much I need until I decide which of the three  fabrics will be used for the curtains.

Here are the three fabrics:

The rest of the living room looks like this (sorry for the blurry photos!):

Of course my sofa will look more coordinated and less ‘blah’ when I’ve made the fun pillows.  The rug will also be happier when I (eventually) get my nice big rug.

The windows are on the opposite wall from the shelves.  There is an ugly HVAC unit under the windows, but a set of mid-century style cabinets are currently being built to fit around it and camouflage it.  The furnishings have changed since this window shot was taken:

And the painting that hangs opposite from the sofa looks like this:

With all that in mind, I ask you:

Which of the three fabrics would you choose for curtains in this room?

I’m leaning towards #2, the Orangina pattern. But I’m concerned that the white background of the fabric will be too white against the creamy off-white of my walls.  So, what do you think?

First, I’m really enjoying your site, and I’m allllll over those votives you made! As for the curtains, I think #1 the Cardinal Red will make more of a statement. You have a lot of white in the room, and these will stand alone with a more solid presence.

I actually like #3. To keep something you can live with though, you might want to edge panels of a neutral fabric in the bolder fabric. I liked #3 simply because of the palette in your painting.

as a fabric, i agree, i like number 2 the best, however against the walls for the room, i think number 1 will look best. those are my thoughts 🙂 you’re cute and i love you!

I really like #3 the brown and red! Maybe its the repeating squarish pattern or the more subtle colors, but there’s something about it that makes me think it would fit in well with your livingroom redo. 🙂

hmmm… I really love#2…. I’m actually okay with blending white & creams & yellows but you have to be okay with that to take that option.

I can’t wait to see which you choose!!!!

I had already decided on Number 2 before I read down to the bottom… I don’t think the walls are too light for it…

I think I like # 1…. You probably will not get tired of that pattern as fast, compared to the other ones…
