As I briefly mentioned on Monday, Ryan and I attended three Thanksgiving dinners this past week.
I spaced out for most of the long weekend, and forgot to get photos of almost everything. However, I did snap some photos of my favorite art back home, which I’ll share later this week.
On Thursday my parents and I journeyed to Philadelphia, where we gather at my brother’s home each year. His in-laws also come – and they’re a fantastic Polish family, so they bring all sorts of awesome dishes that my family never used to eat on Thanksgiving. It’s awesome.
Thursday evening Ryan and I drove to New Jersey to do Thanksgiving with his family. It was also awesome. I talked sewing and quilting with his mom for a while, and after seeing her amazing quilts ( like the one below) I was inspired to come home and start my own.
Then, my mother hosted a large Thanksgiving, which we like to call Thanksgiving Part 2, on Saturday. All the family friends that I grew up knowing come – it’s our version of extended family. This year, like last year, Ryan’s family also came.
Points to them for braving the Hoffmann Thanksgiving Madness. The culinary stars of the show were my mom’s cheesecake and my mom-in-law’s pumpkin cake. Yum.
During the dinner my mother presented Ryan with an engagement gift, which Ryan and his little brother tested out on the back porch.
Yes, that’s a Nerf gun. It’s all Ryan said he wanted to put on the registry.
We also got to spend some time with this absolutely adorable bundle of joy, aka my niece Caroline.
She’s 1 1/2 and awesome. When you point a camera at her, it grabs her attention and she moves towards it, so every photo I have of her is totally a blurry action shot. 🙂 The following was our attempt to get a photo of the two of us:
Ok, who am I kidding? There’s not much more to this post, I was just dying to share the photos of the little munchkin. 🙂
I can’t believe I didn’t get any photos of my family, Ryan’s family, or the table decor. Alas.
I hope you all had a wonderful celebration! If you posted about your Thanksgiving, please share the link in the comments so I can come say hello!

Oh my goodness, she is so cute! Just about Kate’s age. I know, these toddlers tend to run right at the camera! This Thanksgiving, we deep fried a turkey! So good! Here’s the link: http://www.sarahrosemary.com/index.php?/archives/672-Our-kumbaya-Thanksgiving.html
She’s a little cutie 🙂 For a long time a Christmas morning tradition at my house was a full-on nerf gun fight with the whole family. My parents would put a new nerf gun in each person’s stocking (or right below their stocking since the nerf guns get big, haha) and we would shoot each other with nerf darts and balls all morning before we got to the other presents. It was so so fun, although we do have a oddly large collection of nerf guns now, haha.
I didn’t post about my Thanksgiving this year (we just ate a lot, haha), but I did post about some of the things I’m thankful for: http://www.twenty-six-to-life.com/2011/11/thankful.html
It sounds like a very fun Thanksgiving!
I had the most wonderful Thanksgiving in a while, spending time with some relatives that I hadn’t seen in a while. I posted about the prettiest part of my Thanksgiving- the table: http://justabouthome.wordpress.com/2011/11/27/golden-thanksgiving-table/
I love that your mom gave Ryan a nerf gun! Your family seems like a lot of fun!
Jesse registered for a few pro wrestling action figures. We didn’t get any as wedding gifts. Oh darn. 😉
Thanksgiving wrap up post. This is part one: http://www.jesseandlauren.com/2011/11/thats-thanksgiving-wrap-up-part-one.html but then I found this out: http://www.jesseandlauren.com/2011/11/internet-famous.html so I haven’t gotten around to part two yet. Oh well.
It’s cool that your in-laws and parents get along. I think that’s another confirmation that you’ve met your perfect match when things like that happen. Yay!
I can’t believe you had the energy to sand anything on Sunday! I know the year of three Thanksgiving dinners had me exhausted. Of course they were all in the course of day……
Glad you had fun with your niece and Ryan was able to get his Nerf on. I’m a bit jealous though. That looks like a nice Nerf gun.
Glad you had a good holiday!
[…] Let’s not forget the Nerf Gun that my mom gave Ryan. But that’s not “Jane Approved,” since it can be used to […]
