Shop Update! Waterproof Coasters, Flour Sack Towels and More!

Good evening!  Since I spent most of the weekend updating Janery, I thought a shop update should take the place of a Weekend Roundup post.

There’s a new item in the shop, my waterproof and reversible coasters! I’ve been dying to show you these – I love that I was able to take a rather typical design but make it waterproof!  Because there’s no point in using fabric coasters if liquid can just seep through them, right?

The triangle “origami” side actually slips over the foot of any wine or stemmed glass!  How’s that for a lazy-person’s coaster?

The other sides of the coasters are one solid piece of fabric.

And don’t forget, an interior layer of waterproof fabric keeps moisture from seeping through to your furniture.

The coasters, paired with some coordinating flour sack towels, make a great gift set!

Wait, what’s that? I think I heard some wings fluttering!  Look what else just flew into the shop:

In case you give a hoot, owls are here for a limited time.  They’re squishy and cuddly and fuzzy – the guy above has blue eyes and wings sewn from upcycled cashmere.

Others, like this girl below, have minky fleece and felted wool accents.

Lazy Sunday: Good Reads & Other Awesomeness

I find myself really enjoying the different series I’ve introduced to the blog lately, such as my Small Business Q&A (another one’s coming this week or next!) and my Weekend Roundups.  And because I am always running across things that I’d love to share with you, I decided to start another simple series called Lazy Sunday: good reads & other awesomeness.

This illustration from Exploding Dog, which illustrates how I all-too-often feel in social situations.

On Friday night I discovered Daniel at Manhattan Nest.  A dose of humor and style – just what my blog feed needed!  His tiny hallway redo, part 1 and part 2, is rockin’ my socks.

Fabric designer and soon-to-be-author Kelly from EverKelly created some wacky and wonderful Thanksgiving Decor.   And by wacky I mean unexpected, in a good way.

Jenn at A Home in the Making created the most beautiful hand-painted appetizer plates I am in awe, and am pretty sure people will be getting my less gorgeous versions for Christmas this year.

Rachel’s recap of our weekend adventure to Linden Vineyards shows a more accurate picture of how weird I am. It also shows me wearing a scrunchie. Oops.

What are you loving right now? Can you recommend any good reads?

Socially (less) Awkward: What’s your social media of choice?

Lately I’ve had a few nights where I wasted far too much time chatting and being ridiculous on Twitter with a few blog friends.   Well, maybe I shouldn’t call it “wasting” time because I enjoy the time I spend chatting with you all.

It got me thinking – always a dangerous turn of events. . .

In the last year the Google tells me that I’ve had a lot more visitors, but you know I feel like I don’t know who you guys are! I know the social media and blog world can seem kind of clique-y at times, and I don’t want to contribute to that.  I want you all to join us!  If you’d like to join me in a conversation or other ridiculousness on Twitter or Facebook or even just in the comments section below, here’s where you can find me lurking:

On Facebook: The Borrowed Abode

On Twitter:  @BorrowedAbode

On Instagram:  @borrowedabode   (I’m totally hooked on Instagram, btw.  I love sharing silly photos and seeing what others are sharing!)  Right now, as inspired by Rachel’s comment on this post, I’ve started sharing the adventures of The Naked Man .  . . and I’m having way too much fun with it.

On Pinterest I have boards of all sorts, like Ideas for Renters and Storage/Organization and maybe a teeny tiny obsession with creative Cocktail Hour.

Of course, you can always just follow along with The Borrowed Abode RSS feed.

Now I’m off to photograph some more products and get Janery all ready for the holidays!  I’ll be kicking off the holiday season with a big sale sometime next week, so sign below to be the first to know! As a thank-you to my newsletter subscribers, I always announce sales to them at least a day earlier than anywhere else.

Are you worried I’ll junk up your virtual mailbox with tons of spammy emails?  Please don’t be.  I send out my newsletter once a month, max, and I will never, ever, cross-my-heart-hope-to-die share your email address with anyone else.

Now I’d better get back to work.  Ryan’s created a timed task list to help me this weekend, and I’ve got two dozen stuffed owls just begging me to photograph them. . .  they’re such divas.

In the mean time, please tell me – What’s your favorite social media outlet? And what’s your least favorite?
