This past Wednesday I took a break from the daily grind with some lunchtime shopping salvation. Wednesdays are 25% off days at my local Salvation Army. Talk about a productive lunch break:
Is this a greenhouse? A terrarium? A candle holder? I’m really not sure. . . but I totally dig it. A touch of Pottery Barn at thrift-store prices: $2.25. I thought it would add some interest to one of the shelves in my guest room, or by a window with an herb plant growing in it. The lid opens so that you can insert things in it, and there is no glass in the lid – so plants could grow out the top of it.
At only $2.00, this little white vase had to come home with me. I’ve got a little collection of white vases and vessels, and this one was in perfect condition. It’s plain and simple, and perfect for a small spray of fresh flowers in any room.
So much carnival glass is too detailed and fussy for me – but these two glasses are tall and simple, and the metallic sheen adds just a bit of fun. Perfect for a glass of water. $1.50 for the pair. Oh yeah.
I really have no freakin’ clue what this is. Do you? But I like the rough rusty texture and architectural style of it – kind of a behind-the-scenes Washington Monument. And at $6.75 after the Wednesday discount – it was worth taking home.
So whaddya think about that metal sculpture-y thing? What would you put inside the glass greenhouse?

Your beige one is definitely a candle holder (well its how it started out). Mom LOVES those things and we have a few sitting around the house and sunroom. Looks like the other one could be too
Thanks for your kind comments on my new kitchen reno! I’ve enjoyed looking through all your before and after’s 🙂 Have a great weekend!

I like the obelisk thingy. It is cool. Not sure what I would put in the cage. Just as a joke you could place a fake bird in there and see if any one notices. Or a collections of pretty shells.
You have such a good eye Jane, great finds! 🙂 Is this the Goodwill up Glebe Road towards Ballston?
No, it’s actually the Herndon location of the Salvation Army! I’ve never had good luck at the Goodwill in Arlington or on Glebe Rd.
