Thursday is always a fun day for me and Maple, because it’s not a work day.
Since I started Maple in part-time daycare, I’ve tried to do most of my work on daycare days, and put work aside on the days we’re home together. At first it was hard for me to put my work brain on hold on Tuesday/Thursday, because it always feels like there’s so much to be done. However, I’ve chosen to focus on only the highest priority items for the business. Lately I’ve found it easier to shut off my work brain on Maple days, because I know one of the huge reasons for switching to Janery and a SAHM role was so that I could spend a lot of time with her during these fleeting early years.
So, Thursday I’m Jane the SAHM. Maple wakes 3 times during the night, about every 2 hours. We do manage to sleep until 8am and it’s glorious, but I’m completely exhausted. We don’t do much other than eat breakfast, shower, and dress before heading to playgroup, which we have every Thursday.
At 11:30 we walk home from playgroup. The weather is pretty nice once again!
After a big lunch (hooray!) Maple is ready for a nap. While she sleeps I vacuum the house and mop the kitchen floors. I’ve become a terrible housekeeper because I just can’t do everything well, so this is a very exciting day for me 🙂
Maple is still sleeping, a true miracle. I settle in for some work at the computer, but not before making a cup of tea. Harney & Sons is my favorite brand, especially for Earl Grey. Today I’m drinking Paris tea, which is a vanilla black tea by H&S.
After Maple wakes up from her nap, we spend some time hanging out in the window, where she loves to sit and look out.
Once Ryan is home from work, we make dinner. After dinner and a bath, Maple’s off to bed.
I head to the sewing studio to make a new Charlie Cushion. I need one for Maple’s room because Amber is always sleeping in there, watching after her “puppy.” I decide to mix together two navy and white fabrics, the Bricks and the Herringbone, and I love how it turned out.
Around 10 pm I make Ryan’s lunch and then head to bed where I read for a bit, the book Death in a Strange Country, by Donna Leon. It’s a murder mystery set in Venice, which leaves me falling asleep thinking about our upcoming trip to Italy.

Love reading about your days!
Do you guys eat dinner at 3 pm?! You’ll be cute senior citizens one day! 😉
Ha! No, Ryan’s been getting home a lot closer to normal dinner time 🙂 And I got a little carried away with grilling that night, so it took a while.
