Is it really Monday already? We had an absolutely spectacular fall weekend here in the DC area, and we’re thankful for it since so much of our weekend involved being outdoors.
But first, an indoor activity: Last week we celebrated a very good friend’s birthday with a surprise group dinner at a restaurant. I took over the decor for the event, and was thrilled with how it turned out. Tomorrow, come hell or high water, I’ll be sharing the details with you. 🙂
I finally put up some fall decor indoors, but after many attempts to buy some new seasonal accessories, I gave up on adding fall to most of the home. But that’s a story for another time.
On Thursday and Friday nights I continued my attempts to reupholster two vintage dining chairs, but let me tell you – it’s slow going. The old foam and batting is stuck to the frame with an awful stick substance.
At some point during the week the leaves really got serious about changing color. The big maple is still green, but everything else is surrounding us with gorgeous golds and oranges.
It was a gorgeous backdrop as we worked to finish up the back yard cleanup that we’ve been working at for several months now. It feels so good to be finished . . . and then on Sunday Ryan hauled everything out of our two sheds, I scrubbed their floors, and then he totally reorganized – and they look FANTASTIC! He did an awesome job, but it was really hard for me to stand back and let him do the organizing for once. 🙂
We had some friends over for a final outdoor dinner this weekend and I had fun using several of our wedding gifts, including our round green tray – which turned out to be perfect as a bar tray.
Merlin took time to smell the flowers . . .
And on Sunday I managed to squeeze in not one, but two naps! First in the morning sun, curled up with my cat . . . (does that make it a “cat” nap?)
And later that afternoon I snuggled up with several blankets and pillows in our hammock, and had what might be the best afternoon nap of my life.
Now it’s your turn! What was your weekend like?
