Holiday & Seasonal Projects, Holidays

Here’s to winter!

Another fabulous winter has officially begun.  Especially because we froze our butts off this weekend, going out to the country and cutting our own tree.   On the up side, though, we supported a small local tree farmer and beekeeper (cool!) and we got a  few good wintry photos (one of which I’m sure will end up on our holiday card):

Thanks to Ryan, and the wonderfully fun adventures we have, Christmas & winter are now one of my favorite seasons!

I used to hate the cold, but we have such a blast with our adventures every winter that I truly have come to enjoy it!  Christmas is only the beginning – we spend cozy nights with homemade gourmet cocoa and old classic films, we go walking around random parts of DC, exploring neighborhoods and trying new restaurants.  This chill in the air reminds me of last December, when he took me out on a surprise date – walking through the city, going to ZooLights at the National Zoo, and ending with dinner at an absolutely perfect fancy restaurant…where we lingered over dinner, listening to an incredibly talented jazz pianist play  mix of holiday songs and classical music. . .  and watching the snow begin to fall outside.  It was like a scene from a movie – he played Let it Snow just as the flakes began to fall.   It’s one of those memories that is so perfect that I’ll hold onto it forever.  We really do have so much to be thankful for.

Here's our cute little tree!

But I digress. I’ve got to get back to lugging sticks into the house, so that I can try a Christmas decorating experiment (and blog about it, of course).  Then. . . Ryan has already informed me that he will be mocking it here.  So stay tuned!

My hubs is from Falls Church and always waxes poetic about DC winters. He should have thought of that before proposing, huh? Love that first shot of you guys, you look amazing.
