Office Makeover Plan, Part 1

Yesterday I promised you a bit of an office makeover plan, didn’t I?  Well here I am – better late than never.

Last night ended with me bursting into tears when some of my sewn products didn’t turn out quite as perfectly as I had hoped.  I am so excited about launching an Etsy shop, but I am so worried about making sure my products don’t disappoint my customers by looking “too handmade.”  I went to bed to mope instead of blogging.  Ryan was super sweet and listened to me mope for quite some time.  Maybe he should write his next “what the hell” about his moody and overly dramatic girlfriend!

But back to the office.  Here’s what it looked like on Monday night – my desk was a crowded wreck:

My floor is even overrun with the mess, because I don’t have a separate table to cut and sew fabric on:

See, I told you it was a disaster!!  Aside from all the threads that need to constantly be vacuumed off the floor, the real problem is that I am lacking storage.  But see all those blue painter’s tape lines and shapes on the wall?  That’s how I plan out a space before committing to drilling holes in a wall.

This is my finalized storage plan above my desk (current as of tonight).  I’m going to hang shelves (for books, binders, notebooks, and other storage) on the wall (represented by the tape lines) and make a fabric-covered inspiration (read: cork) board to hang on the other wall.

And that’s only the beginning.  I’m heading to my parents’ house to work on some projects with them, so I’ll have to come back Monday with my color palette, the story of the $130/gallon paint, and the whole new furniture arrangement that will squeeze an insane amount of function into this disaster I call my office/craft/dressing room.

Until then, have a great weekend!

Girl, your room is not messy – it looked organized to me – and it’s obvious you’re just working on projects:) I can’t wait to see the results.

I feel your pain… Sometimes I throw my knitting across the room in frustration when it’s not working out to my satisfaction. Then I hurriedly rescue it so as not to funk up the precious yarn. 😡

Agreed that your room doesn’t look messy, just in the process of being utilized! If that bothers you, then my room would probably induce syncope.

I’d kill for this mess to be mine. I cram everything back into an armoire each night. Feel my full on craft envy.

“Crowded wreck”- are you kidding me?? Haha I’m with the others- it looks like a craft room that’s being used to- well, make stuff! I can’t see what solutions you come up with though!
