Not your grandma’s china

Last Friday I fell head over heels in love.  With a set of china dishes, of all things.  What the heck?  Yeah, I’m not usually the type to fall for dishes, but I fell for these like a clumsy supermodel in stilettos.

I think I must have some of these Lenox Chirp dishes.  Just one place setting or a few of the larger serving pieces.  They’d mix and match perfectly with plain white dishes at a dinner party.

And then I started reading about them.  Wow, they sure aren’t your grandmother’s china.  Microwave and dishwasher safe, these fine dishes would make cleanup a breeze.  I don’t know about you, but when we use my grandma’s china we have to wash it by hand.  Every piece.  And after a Thanksgiving meal, that’s a lot of work.

Even if I buy nothing else, I would love to have these beautiful salt and pepper shakers.  I don’t own any decorative salt and pepper right now, and these two little birds would dress up my table perfectly.

Well, it’s never to early to start a Christmas list.  And these lovely dishes have already flown their way straight to the top of my list.

That China is divine. I LOVE fine china.

True story: I registered for China when we got married thinking that it was $150 for five place settings, as opposed to a five PIECE place setting.

I got all the China, plus silverware to match that I didn’t register for. It was vaguely mortifying and yet I love my China so, I guess I won anyway. Buy the shaker set at least, and use the color scheme at least – it’s so beautiful!

Jane these are gorgeous! I think you should get some (even if its just a serving platter or two to toss in with your current dishes). 🙂

You should get these for sure! What a beautiful set! And not the typical platinum-rim-around-the edge kind of China.

When we got married I registered for “Wedgewood White” China as our everyday dishes, and I love them! Dishwasher and microwave safe, and they are so flexible that they can go casual or fancy. I’m a big believer in using what you love instead of keeping them tucked away in a cabinet.

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog and leaving comments! Brightens my day!!
