Small-Space Solution

Don’t Strain Yourself

For years I’ve struggled to find a good space to store my wonky old metal colander.

It was seriously a strain on my brain, trying to find a good place to store it.  What a total space hog.  Then this weekend I got a clue, thanks to Michael Graves for Target, and upgraded to this beauty:

Not only is it cute and green (see, it matches my green dish brush!), it is collapsible! Plus, its expandable arms allow it to rest across any sink, which is so absolutely fabulous.

Here it is taking good care of my dee-licious Brussel Sprouts.  (Seriously, best veggie ever!)

The colander folds up nice and skinny for storage.  When you’re ready to use it, not only do you pop it into shape, you can extend the handles so that it rests perfectly on the sides of your sink!  Doesn’t that just put the “fun” in functional?

It may not seem like a big deal to you, but to a tiny kitchen user like me – it’s huge.

What about you?  Have any space saving gadgets in your kitchen?

I do hope you kept that old strainer though; it’s got great character!

Oh and yes, I’ve been self-teaching myself Photoshop so the new header is a result… Actually have some additional ideas to update it tonight!
