Organizing for Others: Box of Books Quick Fix

I spent the weekend at my parents’ house working on home organization projects with my dad while my mom was out of town.  After some big projects Saturday, I had time to squeeze in one quick fix in the guest room that is overloaded with boxes of books from their move.

Faced with this pile after we moved some furniture in and out of the room, I rummaged around in the basement and found two small book shelves.  I piled the books neatly and (I hope) somewhat artfully on the shelves, and added a few other accessories, including the vases full of shells from family beach trips, and the photo frame (not yet filled) that I made with some remaining shells.

While I’m pretty happy with how the above shelf came out, the next one (Below the window) still needs some work.  So next time I am home I’ll put that larger book away and find some accessories that need a home on the top shelf.

Not bad for a 15-minute book storage spruce-up, though!

Definitely looks a lot better! I always prefer shelves over boxes. When I organize stuff with boxes all my things tend to sink to the bottom of the box and never seem to see the light of day again. However, with shelves everything is in view and never forgotten. Your lucky parents have you around to do the organizing for them, and it looks like you did it very well (=
